Stuart Maxwell’s (Stumax) roots may be traced back to F3D pylon racing. During the late 80’s, it was apparent that to go faster would require some special high aspect ratio aerodynamics which would place severe demands on wing construction. Two years of making and breaking wings lead to the development of the composite structure that is still in use today. Taking a break from pylon, Stumax turned to electric flight for a quieter, cleaner alternative. The recent development of high performance brushless motors and new cell technology has finally put electric flight on an even keel with it’s IC counterparts, which means that the desire for speed and performance is no longer compromised by the desire for clean flying. Our aim is to provide the performance oriented electric flier a range of kits that make no compromise on performance. Our all moulded electric ducted fan (EDF) kits are the ultimate in technology and performance, whilst our upcoming range of large scale electric/IC warbird kits provide a level of performance above their piers, all using lessons learnt from years of top level competition flying. We have designed multi-world championship winning F3D pylon models that are without rival, and are now turning our attention towards providing sport fliers with models that are technologically superior both aerodynamically and structurally to almost anything in the marketplace today. They say in the automotive world that technology form Formula One racing eventually filters down into road cars – Stumax Aircraft ’s mission is to bring top level racing technology into the sport flier’s domain, so that ultimate performance is no longer a dream. |
